What do you do for work?
I work in the Breast Oncology Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I oversee the research personnel that manage our investigational drug clinical trials. My job is to ensure that our clinical trials are being run in compliance with our local policies and state and federal regulations.
What would you like us to know about you and your family?
I am originally from Connecticut but have lived in Massachusetts since graduating college and specifically Quincy since 2006. I am the proud Aunt of Linus (Age 9) and Winnie (Age 5) and visit them as often as possible. Being an Aunt is one of my favorite things in the whole world.
What is one thing that we may not know about you.
I am a movie buff and regularly quote movie lines from my favorite movies.
How long have you been CrossFitting?
My CrossFit time dates back to the original box location on Hancock Street and the time of Fuji Fridays. If my memory serves me correctly, it will be 4 years in February.
What time do you typically train?
What is your favorite lift and why?
The deadlift! That’s some good clean family fun.
What is your favorite WOD and why?
I am a big fan of the ‘chipper’. I like having a big chunk of work to complete at my own pace. I enjoy deadlifts (as previously mentioned) and rowing so really anything with those items would be on my ‘fav’ list. Anyone who has worked out with me knows that I hate running and burpees. They are the devil’s work and I dread any programming that contains these items (though still show up).
What are your current CF goals?
Continue to regularly attend class and do my best at each WOD.
What are your current life goals?
Keep living the dream
What is your most memorable time as a CrossFitter?
It’s taken me a long time to learn some of the cool tricks that others seem to do naturally. Probably my first box jump or rope climb. Learning how to squat properly. Getting my first DU. Things like that. Really anytime I complete a WOD it’s a great feeling.
How has CF impacted your life outside of the box?
I really enjoy CrossFit. I find it challenging and engaging. I really enjoy being able to move my body better. I have more strength, control, and flexibility than I’ve ever had before.
How would you best describe QCCF to others?
I love being a part of the QCCF family. I have met so many wonderful people and made so many new friends. QCCF is a very caring and supportive environment and I feel lucky to be apart of this amazing group!
Any additional comments:
I would be remiss without including some thank you’s:
A huge shout out to the QCCF coaches! Particularly those of you that regularly coach at 5:30am. I realize that it is an unGodly hour to be awake. I really appreciate your efforts, enthusiasm, and never ending patience with our unruly group.
A huge shout out to the 5:30am regulars (and brave occasional drop-ins)! Thanks so much for the laughs and support. You are a big reason that I manage to consistently wake up that early in the morning. I couldn’t do it without you! Also, a special thanks to P for expanding my dance repertoire and the Millers for keeping me in the loop regarding important QCCF events.
Lastly, a huge shout out to Sam for all his hard work programming our WODs and for keeping our QCCF store fully stocked. We couldn’t do it without you!
